Organic social media marketing is what you publish in your or your company’s various social channels. It can be posted on a Facebook page, photos or videos on an Instagram account, TikTok clips or Youtube videos. The important thing is that the content is available to your followers, and you have not paid for it to be spread further. You hope and trust that your followers will like, share and/or comment on your content, and spread it for you.
Therefore, you should engage in organic marketing in social media.
When you market your business on social media, you allow ordinary people to make your content more visible. We are human beings, and we like things that other people recommend. This is why so many e-commerce sites allow grading. That’s why my wife uses Tripadvisor to find a restaurant as soon as we’re travelling. It is ordinary people who rate and describe their experience. And we humans always trust others more than the brand itself or the restaurant’s ads.

Social media is the digital equivalent of rating and takes place in principle all the time. You can not sit and wait for someone to buy your product or service and then tell their friends and acquaintances at work or school how good it was. If you are active in social media, you can tell people who like your brand why they like it, get them to click on a like thumb or maybe even share a post and spread their liking to their entire circle of acquaintances. If they do this often, they can influence their surroundings to turn to you when they need a solution to a similar problem. If you take good care of your followers, they will do half the work for you. Even if it was ten years since they bought something from you, the feeling of satisfaction may still be there.
It is not enough that you can use ordinary people to advertise for you. By doing so, you get a wealth of information about them. You get a receipt in real-time of how much emotion and like you create. It’s unique. From the time you publish a post somewhere, there are pretty soon statistics on how it was received in the form of hearts, likes, divisions and more. You will find out what kind of posts they like, what makes them comment and what feelings you can create. You can then use this knowledge to make even more successful in social media. For example, by creating powerful ads that create leads and additional sales.

The myth that organic marketing is dead is just that – a myth.
When I hold courses or visit companies to help them, there is almost always someone who says that they have taken a course / heard that organic marketing is dead and not true. I would like to know who is holding these courses and spreading these rumours. I guess they work at agencies that help you advertise on social media. They simply want to scare you, so you hire them. And if you want to throw your money into the lake, be my guest.
Firstly; yes, it isn’t easy to reach out organically in social media today. An excellent social media strategy should, in addition to everything else, also include a plan and budget for advertising. You need to maximize your reach and visibility, and you can not do that very well without advertising.
But you do not know how to advertise until you see what your followers / your target audience likes. Therefore, it is super important that you keep a close eye on what happens when you make regular posts. That knowledge and those insights will save you money and time because you do not have to guess what is a good ad for your target group. You already know.
And to my knowledge, both time and money are something that most of us are short of. So no, organic social media marketing is NOT dead, and yes, you need to devote time and resources to it.
